REShAPED trial

Sleep apnoea is a condition which commonly affects older adults. It occurs when a person's throat is partly or completely blocked while they are asleep, causing them to stop breathing until a signal is sent to the brain to wake up. This can occur many times through the night, leading to sleep disruption, which may have an effect on memory. The purpose of this multi-centre study is to see if it is feasible to run a study where we treat sleep apnoea to improve memory and thinking. We aim to recruit individuals who are accessing the memory clinic at Austin Health, and screen and treat them for sleep disordered breathing. The results of this study may contribute to the design of a larger study in the future.
