Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are lung conditions which can lead to lung scarring. There are no proven treatments to cure the disease or improve how people feel. Cough is common and has been associated with poor quality of life, low mood, and worsening of illness.
In order to know the impacts of cough on the lives of people with ILD and the effectiveness of new treatments for cough in clinical trials, we first need a reliable and accurate way to measure cough in people with ILD.
This international study will be the first to ask a group of health professionals and people with ILD to agree on which aspects of cough are important to include in a questionnaire to measure cough and its impacts in ILD.
This project is a vital step in the process of developing a new questionnaire to measure cough in people with ILD, which is critical to advancing treatments and improving the lives of people with this illness.
