IBAS research in the news...

IBAS researcher, Dr David Berlowitz, featured in a Sunday Herald-Sun overview of spinal cord injury research happening around Austin Health.

Journalist, Lucie van den Berg, has done a fantastic job of capturing the full range of research being undertaken.  This includes nerve transplant surgery, a trial of cooling newly injured patients to prevent further damage, assisted-cycling based rehabilitation innovations and headset controlled electrical stimulation to hand muscles.  The IBAS related research is the work being done as part of the SHiQ program to reduce the additional burden that sleep disorders place on those with a spinal cord injury.

The photo at left, which features in the article, shows SHiQ Program Manager and PhD candidate Marnie Graco wiring up Dr David Berlowitz for a sleep study.
