It is with great sadness that we note the sudden death of Dr Jeff Pretto, IBAS Fellow.
Jeff was involved with IBAS from its beginning and was a member of the Medical and Scientific Research Committee (MSRC) for many years. At that time he was the Senior Scientist of the Respiratory Laboratory at Austin Health.
He moved to New South Wales in 2007, working as the Scientific Director of the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and was also a Conjoint Lecturer in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle.
Jeff was proud of his association with IBAS and the role he played in its development.
In addition to his professional association, Jeff was a powerhouse in the adventure races that many IBAS personnel love to compete in.
Jeff will be greatly missed by his colleagues and friends. We send our deepest condolences to his colleagues at John Hunter Hospital as well as his family.
