Congratulations to Christian Osadnik

IBAS would like to congratulate Christian Osadnik who has received a number of awards at the recent Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) conference.

Christian has been awarded a highly regarded Janet Elder International Travel grant.  Awarded in the memory of Dr Elder, a pioneer of respiratory medicine in Australia, this award will support Christian's professional development by contributing to expenses of attending and presenting at an international scientific meeting.  It was awarded on the basis of scientific merit for his abstract titled Positive expiratory pressure therapy does not improve symptoms, quality of life or incidence of exacerbations in invidividuals with acute exacerbations of COPD - a mutlicentre randomised controlled trial.

Christian was awarded two other prizes also:

  • The COPD prize for the presentation of the paper as listed above
  • the Best Physiotherapy Poster prize for his poster titled Postitive expiratory pressure does not improve ventilation inhomogeneity in individuals with COPD and chronic sputum expectoration.

Christian is a Physiotherapist who recently completed his  stages of completing his PhD investigating the role of airway clearance techniques for individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Congratulations to Christian, and his supervisors and co-authors, on his presentations at TSANZ.
